Charlie Chaplin has had a huge impact on our culture over the years. Nearly a century after his start in cinema, his work still resonates with modern society. In particular, ‘The Great Dictator’ has always been one of my favorites. You can find a few words of wisdom from Charlie Chaplin throughout the film.

Both lead roles, Dictator Adenoid Hynkel, and a poor Jewish barber who’s resisting persecution by the ruthless Dictator are played by Charlie. If you like classics, then the film is definitely worth watching. Otherwise, at least check out this short speech Charlie gives which sheds some light on the human condition.

The truths behind his words are powerful and to the point. We’re all in this together. We have so much abundance in this day and age, yet we let people suffer or go hungry. We fight, lie, cheat, steal and kill without regard for human life or morals and values. Most importantly, we let our governments do the majority of these terrible deeds while we sit idly by.

I know there’s so much good in this world, but I don’t think we preach about it enough. Negative news gets more views than positive news. Why? Maybe we’re distracted. Perhaps we’ve forgotten how to rifle through the nonsense in this age of information overload.

As for me, I’ll keep trying my best to only promote positive messages. I believe in my fellow Americans as well as my fellow man.
